KOALASURFOne day we decided to make our dream come true which was to live by the sea and surf every day! We quit our jobs, moved to France, started KOALA Surf and bought our own Surfhouse and now finally we can hear the waves from our kitchen! FACE OFFWhat is your best surf-memory?LENA: When I was surfing with the local people in Bulgaria. We were surfing on old windsurfing boards from 1980, because there were no surfboards to be found in that part of the Black Sea. KARIN: When I was surfing in Lofoten, Norway working as a TV reporter for “The Arctic Challenge”. I was surfing in three degrees water then snowboarding and partying all night! Best surf-movie?LENA: Riding Giants is, of course, a favourite. But the best of them all is “Blue Crush”, I know it is very cheesy but I cant help it, I love that movie! KARIN: Vaya con dios! “Point Break”, of course! “Bodi” is the reason I started to dream about surfing. But now days I prefer “Billabong Odysée”. Part of it is recorded in front of our house! Surfing adventure that you are really proud of?LENA: I was the second best female surfer in Austria year 2000. I have a trofé! But… we were only two girls in the competition. I am Swedish but my surname sounds Austrian, so they let me compete. KARIN: Must be when I surfed in the three degrees water in Norway, I can not belive I did not die! Why are you called KOALA?LENA and KARIN: We like Koala bears because of their unique lifestyle. | ![]() |
